When I get these invites, I check of the yesnomaybe boxes and include a message asking how they are doing , etc. I can think of maybe one occasion when I received a response. Seriously, what the hell? I give myself to others as a supportive and caring friend, and this is all I get back. Well, I can say that I’ll continue to be me & support those, despite the fact that they don’t really seem to give a care. I really hope the best for all those that I have had the pleasure of knowing, but I can’t see myself making an effort to come to a show or event if I’m going to be treated as I would by a politician or an unappreciative rock star. It should be about the music and the celebration of it all and not about kissing the ass of some club owner so you can be invited back. If you are that good, your crowd will grow. Just try not to alienate them all in the process.

Friends..how many of us have them?
Why in the world do we continue to call those who use us to fill a venue for their musical performance our friends? I have noticed that as personal contact with these “friends” decreases, the amount of blanket requests for my presence increases. What ever happened to the phone call or text? Are they so busy that we are not good enough for a call? Relationships have become so impersonal & we have become just another ME generation. Those who I used to call my close friends are busy bragging about their accomplishments & trying to prove to everyone on a social network how they are so big that they can’t even contact their friends to attend a show of theirs.
